Every board is one-of-a-kind. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

What looks like abstract art is actually nature in action - featuring bold, one-of-a-kind spalted patterns that nature etched into the wood. Essentially, the beautiful spalting is a testament to a microscopic battle for resources within the tree, frozen in time when the decay process is halted through kiln drying. This board is a functional work of art—perfect for charcuterie, serving, or simply starting conversations.

FROM FOREST FLOOR TO CHARCUTERIE SHOWSTOPPER.

Crafted here in our shop in Ohio from solid hackberry and finished to preserve its raw live edge, this board captures the organic lines, textures, and imperfections of the original tree. Every curve and contour tells a piece of its natural story—bringing authenticity, warmth, and a sense of place to your table.

FROM TREE, TO BEE, TO TABLE.

We finish every piece with our signature beeswax and oil blend from a local honey farm, creating a food-safe surface that’s as beautiful to serve on as it is durable for everyday use.

  • MEET THE MAKER AND THE NAMESAKE

  • I was done with the lifeless, cookie-cutter stuff crowding store shelves. Nothing felt like me—or like a gift worth giving—so I started making my own. Every piece I create is as personal as a handwritten note, bold enough to hold a memory, and crafted to turn heads. Handmade with soul, creativity, and a dash of quirky spirit, each one is meant to mean something and be treasured. And yes—the business is named after my horse, Pirate… who’s every bit as delightfully “quirky” as the name suggests.

FROM SOLID WOOD TO STUNNING. EXPERTLY HANDCRAFTED FROM BEGINNING TO END.

We don’t just make your piece — we start where the story begins: the tree. Every board, coaster, and décor piece begins with wood we’ve personally harvested from our own land or from neighbors here in Ohio. No big-box lumber. No factory shortcuts. We mill and kiln-dry it ourselves, coaxing out the grain, character, and history in every inch before we transform it into something bold, meaningful, and unmistakably Quirky Pirate — made for you and no one else.

  • SUSTAINABLY MADE

We harvest our wood responsibly from our own land and fallen trees nearby—honoring the earth while creating pieces with purpose.

  • LOW-MAINTENANCE

Simple hand-wash cleaning and occasional conditioning with our beeswax wood conditioner keeps them looking their best.

  • EASY TO ORDER

No stress, no guesswork — just beautifully easy. Pick your design, approve your mockup, and we’ll have it headed your way in no time.

FAQS

Why are your boards different?

Because they start with a story—and not one from a factory. We sustainably harvest the wood ourselves, right from our own woods or from fallen trees on our neighbors’ land. Every board is cut, shaped, and finished by hand in our Ohio workshop, preserving the live edge and all the wild, beautiful character nature gave it—knots, grain, worm trails and all. These aren’t cookie-cutter boards; they’re one-of-a-kind pieces with purpose, personality, and roots (literally). You won’t find anything like them on a shelf.

Can I find this anywhere else?

No, you can’t find this anywhere else. Each board is handcrafted with care, using kiln-dried wood and personalized to create something truly one-of-a-kind. We combine quality craftsmanship and unique designs, ensuring you get a product that's as special as it is durable.

How do I care for the board?

To care for your board, simply hand wash with warm water and mild soap, then dry it immediately. To keep it looking its best, we recommend conditioning the wood regularly. You’ll receive a care card with your board that includes step-by-step instructions, and for added protection, you can purchase a tin of our beeswax wood conditioner to maintain its beauty and durability. This will help nourish the wood and keep it looking stunning for years to come.

What is your return policy on engraved items?

As each item is custom-made just for you, we do not offer returns. We’re confident you’ll love your piece, and we ask that you carefully review the information you provide for engraving before submitting your order. To ensure everything is perfect, we will email you a proof for your approval before we begin the engraving process. We appreciate your understanding and are here to ensure you’re completely satisfied with your one-of-a-kind item.

Is it possible to have a custom order made?

Absolutely! We love creating custom designs tailored to your needs. You can choose your wood species, size and engraving to make your piece truly unique. There is a design fee of $50 for this option and an additional 4-6 business days in production.

Do you offer bulk pricing for large orders?

Yes, we offer special pricing for bulk orders, particularly for corporate gifts or business branding products. Contact us with your order details, and we’ll provide a custom quote.

Why is the engraving lighter or darker than what is shown on your website?

Because our wood sheet items are made of all natural woods, the engraving will vary depending on the specific grains of that wood sheet. Each item will be unique and one of a kind.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes, local pick up is available in Bellevue, OH. Please select the local pick-up option at checkout. An email with the address and pick up instructions will be emailed to you when your order is ready.
